Airline Financing
Indonesia's national carrier Garuda plans to sell bonds to finance expansion
Luc Citrinot - 26 November 2012, 08:48

JAKARTA- A senior official at Garuda Indonesia, the nation's flag carrier, said that the firm seeks to raise at least 200 million U.S. dollars from bond sales next year to finance its expansion plans, local media reported Friday.

Garuda's financial director Handrito Hardjono declared that next year's issuance will comprise dollar- and rupiah-denominated bonds. "With this combination, the amount of foreign-exchange loss can be minimized," Handrito was quoted by the Jakarta Globe as saying.

He did not provide any other terms of the notes, such as the tenor, coupon and investment banks to arrange the debt sale. He said that proceeds from the bond sales should be enough to cover at least half of next year's capital expenditure, with the remaining expenses to be covered by bank loans. "Seventy percent of our capital expenditure next year will be used for planes procurement, while the remaining will be used for working capital," he said, without giving out the total value of the expenditure.

Indonesian companies have been selling bonds to raise funds in the past year, as the country's return to investment grade rating last year has boosted confidence in fixed-income investments.

Garuda has been benefiting from Indonesia's strong economic growth, as rising household incomes and an increase in travel to the country's many islands have made air transportation a profitable industry.

In an attempt to tap into the country's opportunities, Garuda introduced its Quantum Leap program to revitalize its fleet and expand its network. Emirsyah Satar, Garuda's president director, said that the airline sees brighter skies ahead with Indonesia's robust economic performance expected to continue. "We are really capitalizing on the growth of Indonesian economy," he said. He added that the airline expects to receive 24 new aircraft next year and that "2013 will be a challenging year for Garuda."

Garuda currently operates 95 planes and will receive an additional 10 by year-end. Under Quantum Leap, Garuda projects that it will have 144 airplanes by 2015.

Citilink, Garuda's budget airline subsidiary, will operate 50 airplanes by 2015, more than triple from its current fleet of 16.

Garuda also predicts scheduling more than 1,000 flights per day by 2015, more than double from its current 400 daily flights.

Garuda's net income surged 52 percent to 56.48 million U.S. dollars in the January-September period from a year earlier, while its revenue rose 14 percent to 2.39 billion U.S. dollars.

Garuda Indonesia flies to six new destinations in Europe and the Middle East
Friday, 7 December 2012

Garuda Indonesia’s newest flight services to six destinations are a realization of the airline’s code sharing agreement with Etihad Airways,a carrier of the United Arab Emirates.

Following a code sharing agreement with United Arab Emirates’ carrier, Etihad Airways, on Sunday, December 2, 2012, Garuda Indonesia opened new services to six international destinations in Europe and the Middle East that are served by Etihad, namely London, Paris, Manchester, Moscow, Athens, and Muscat, via Garuda’s Abu Dhabi hub.

Garuda Indonesia also officially moved its international hub from Dubai (DXB) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) as part of efforts to expand its network and improve services towards its customers. The Abu Dhabi hub will facilitate Garuda in its code-sharing operations with Etihad in the western outbounds.

Garuda’s inaguration flight from the Abu Dhabi hub, on Sunday, 2 December, served the Jakarta (CGK) - Amsterdam (AMS) route. GA 088 departed from Jakarta at 19.35 LT and arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday, 3 December at 00.55 LT for a transit stop. The flight later left Abu Dhabi at 02.55 LT for Amsterdam arriving at the Dutch capital at 07.20 LT.

The AMS-CGK route is served by GA 089, which departed from Amsterdam on Monday, 3 December at 10.10 LT and arrived in Abu Dhabi at 19.45. GA 089 departed from Abu Dhabi at 21.15 LT and arrived in Jakarta at 08.25 LT.

Garuda Indonesia flies via Abu Dhabi from Jakarta to Amsterdam four times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 19.35 LT using a 222 passenger capacity Airbus 330-200, with a seating configuration of 36 passengers in Executive class and 186 passengers in Economy class.

PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. President & CEO Emirsyah Satar said the decision to move the hub is propelled by the desire to raise the quality of service towards customers, in continuation of the codeshare agreement signed with Etihad Airways on October 18, 2011 and which has been in effect sin since 28 October 2011.
The opening of the Abu Dhabi hub will facilitate passengers who wish to travel to more than 80 destinations served by Etihad Airways in 50 cities in Europe, North America, the Middle East dan Africa,” he added.

As partner, Garuda Indonesia will support Etihad Airways’ network development in the eastern regions, while Etihad Airways will endorse Garuda Indonesia’s expansion in the western outbounds, namely destinations beyond Abu Dhabi.

The codeshare agreement covers several aspects , such as “passenger codeshare, cargo co-operation, airport service improvement, Engineering/Maintenance, Lounge and “Frequent Flyer Program”. This commercial agreement is part of Garuda Indonesia’s “Quantum Leap 2011–2015” network expansion program.

In this cooperation, Garuda Indonesia will act as “marketing party”, selling Etihad Airways’ tickets for more than 27 destinations in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa. The cities are: Paris, London, Frankfurt, Milan, Munich, Manchester, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Brussels, and Athens in Europe; New York, Toronto, Chicago in the North American region, Domodevo in Russia, Cairo, Johannesburg and Nairobi in Africa; and Jeddah, Muscat, Dammam, Riyadh, Amman, Istanbul, Bahrain, Kuwait and Beirut in the Middle East.

Thanks to this cooperation Etihad Airways passengers will be connected with Garuda Indonesia’s network of services across the Indonesian archipelago, Asia, Australia and Japan. Etihad Airways will also serve as a “marketing party” and will be able to sell Garuda Indonesia tickets on the following routes: Jakarta - Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta – Abu Dhabi, and to major cities in Indonesia, such as Surabaya, Denpasar, Manado, Makassar and Balikpapan (from Jakarta).

Tuesday, 11 December 2012

http://www.etravelblackboardasia.com...ousine-service

Bringing fascinating travel experience to Executive Class passengers

Garuda Indonesia, the flag carrier of Indonesia, is launching a free airport-to-destination limousine service for their Executive Class passengers arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to enhance their travel experience in the air and on the ground.

From now on to May 31, 2013, passengers who fly with Garuda Indonesia on the Executive Class to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta will be presented a complimentary limousine voucher to redeem a free ride from the airport to the hotel. Passengers can enjoy a hassle-free journey from Hong Kong to their hotel in Jakarta.

“Garuda Indonesia always strives to offer a more delightful, comfortable and convenient travel experience to Hong Kong business travellers. Therefore, we are very excited to offer a series of services, including the limousine service, fast track immigration services and the Premium Check-in Area launched earlier this year. We sincerely hope that these services can cater to the needs of our business travellers,” says Riza Perdana Kusuma, General Manager Hong Kong & Macau of Garuda Indonesia.

Aiming to deliver enhanced customer service to business travellers, Garuda Indonesia also launched the first ever Premium Check-in Area at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport earlier this year. With the integrated check-in facilities in the Premium Check-in Area, Executive Class passengers can enjoy the services for their convenience including general check-in, extra baggage allowance, flight upgrades, flight re-routing, ticketing, flight reservation and airport tax payment.

In order to meet the growing demand of business travellers between the two cities, Garuda Indonesia now offers two flights daily between Hong Kong and Jakarta at a low price on Executive Class. Flights from Hong Kong to Jakarta are aboard brand new Airbus A330-200s and Boeing 737-800NG.

In recent years Garuda Indonesia has increasingly been recognized at international level after being named as Skytrax’s “The World’s Best Regional Airline” and voted “Best International Airline” for a third time in Roy Morgan’s Customer Satisfaction Awards this year.

United Arab Emirates: Sunday, December 09 - 2012 at 16:44

http://www.ameinfo.com/holiday-inn-a...-garuda-321966

The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, part of the IHG group, has secured the Garuda Indonesia contract to accommodate the airline's crew at the hotel. The airline began re-operating once again last week, with flights connecting Abu Dhabi to Jakarta in Indonesia and Amsterdam, Holland.
The first crew was welcomed by management at the hotel on Saturday, 1st December at 5 am.

On welcoming the crew at the hotel, Philipp Economou, General Manager of Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi said, "We are all very happy to welcome Garuda Indonesia at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi. We were confident of securing the account, as we have consistently proved our quality of both our product and service, supported by our friendly and talented team, who love to make guests feel comfortable at our hotel. We look forward to building a long term relationship with Garuda Indonesia and we will ensure we live up to our promises."

Garuda Indonesia is the second airline crew currently staying at the hotel. The new operation will bring four weekly flights between Jakarta, Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam which will see crew at the hotel on a daily basis.

"Choosing a home for our crew in Abu Dhabi was an important decision to make. As an organization we ensure all our crew is well taken care of. Considering the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi have previously accommodated crew, served as an affirmation to our decision. We have heard highly of their offerings and services, and are sure our crew will have a very comfortable stay," said Fikdanel Thaufik, General Manager, Garuda Indonesia.

The opening flight of Garuda Indonesia in Abu Dhabi is part of its integrated strategy to expand the network in the Middle East as well as Europe and USA.

Garuda Indonesia has also signed a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, which will enable passengers to connect further from Jakarta or Amsterdam to the rest of the world through Etihad's comprehensive and fast growing global network.

Garuda Indonesia’s maiden arrival in Abu Dhabi was welcomed with the traditional water cannon salute. The airline has signed a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, which will enable passengers on this route to connect further from Jakarta or Amsterdam.

Garuda Indonesia inaugurated services on the 6,600-kilometre route from Jakarta (CGK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on 3 December, becoming the second carrier (after Hainan Airlines) to choose the Middle Eastern airport over Dubai as an intermediate stop. Garuda Indonesia now offers its four-weekly service to Amsterdam via Abu Dhabi using A330-200s. Emirsyah Satar, Garuda Indonesia’s CEO, said: “Garuda Indonesia’s stopover in Abu Dhabi is an effort to continually improve its services to customers and is part of its partnership with Etihad Airways, our code-share partner on the route.”
