BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhuanet) – Special forces of the Chinese and Indonesian armies have concluded an anti-terrorism drill in Ji Nan, capital of east China’s Shandong province.
The two regiments, each more than 70 soldiers-strong, have conducted a whole range of exercises including air landing, anti-terrorism drills, and rescue operations over the course of the 15-day drill. This was the second drill conducted jointly by the two armies, and the first within Chinese territory.
Chinese lieutenant general Zhao Zong-qi, said that the drill was an implementation of a strategic consensus reached between the leaders of the two armies, as well as a consolidation of friendly relations between the two sides.
Meanwhile, a senior officer of the Indonesian army said the exercise had enhanced anti-terrorism capabilities of the two armies, paving the way for future cooperation.
