Jatigede Water Supply, West Java
Project Basic Idea
Background
Jatigede reservoir is planned to be completed 2012, it is a multipurpose reservoirs, functioning as irrigation, flood control, and bulk water SPAM (Water Supply System) with water supply capacity 6.000 lps.
The service area of this project includes Sumedang Regency, Majalengka Regency, Indramayu Regency, Cirebon Regency, Cirebon Municipal. The project is designed to cover the need of water from 2013 until 2042.
This project is expected to improve the service level of water until 85% - 90% for the area on the year 2015, according to: “Millenium Development Goals” (MDG’S)
Urgency
- To increase Water Supply capacity.
- To meet current and future demand in drinking water services for people of Sumedang Regency, Majalengka Regency, Indramayu Regency, Cirebon Regency, Cirebon Municipal.
Benefit
PDAMs can fulfill public need by delivering water with capacity of 5,076 l/second until 2042. It indirectly will improve public health, convenience and welfare as well as reducing ground water usage.
