Thumbs up Derawan Islands , a part of heaven in East Kalimantan?

All right, let’s go!

Mad takes us to our first destination, Derawan Islands. Located at East Kalimantan’s offshore, this islands cluster is home to one of the best secluded resorts in Indonesia, the Nabucco Island Resort, in addition to being one of Indonesia’s best underseas and hosting various amazing sea creatures, making this spot a very stunning diving site.

Having said that, you’d better be prepared to get wet during your visit. But if you’re not that keen of water, you can still enjoy this beautiful vacation spot from your floating resort deck or a boat.

How to get there? Few options.

You can fly from Jakarta, Surabaya or Denpasar to Balikpapan or Tarakan by Garuda Indonesia or other domestic airlines. Then you have to go to Tanjung Redeb, which is about 50 miles away from Derawan. It will take you an hour or two by car, but if you can’t wait to escape to your ultimate destination, KALStar and Deraya Airlines are ready to take you there.

From Tanjung Redeb you must cross a little bit of water by boat to Derawan Islands, but you are welcome to swim there if you are really a hardcore adventurous traveler.

What next? Up to you!

Very recommended for: divers, snorkelers, water lover, undersea photographers and honeymooners.
