The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, part of the IHG group, has secured the Garuda Indonesia contract to accommodate the airline's crew at the hotel. The airline began re-operating once again last week, with flights connecting Abu Dhabi to Jakarta in Indonesia and Amsterdam, Holland.
The first crew was welcomed by management at the hotel on Saturday, 1st December at 5 am.

On welcoming the crew at the hotel, Philipp Economou, General Manager of Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi said, "We are all very happy to welcome Garuda Indonesia at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi. We were confident of securing the account, as we have consistently proved our quality of both our product and service, supported by our friendly and talented team, who love to make guests feel comfortable at our hotel. We look forward to building a long term relationship with Garuda Indonesia and we will ensure we live up to our promises."

Garuda Indonesia is the second airline crew currently staying at the hotel. The new operation will bring four weekly flights between Jakarta, Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam which will see crew at the hotel on a daily basis.

"Choosing a home for our crew in Abu Dhabi was an important decision to make. As an organization we ensure all our crew is well taken care of. Considering the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi have previously accommodated crew, served as an affirmation to our decision. We have heard highly of their offerings and services, and are sure our crew will have a very comfortable stay," said Fikdanel Thaufik, General Manager, Garuda Indonesia.

The opening flight of Garuda Indonesia in Abu Dhabi is part of its integrated strategy to expand the network in the Middle East as well as Europe and USA.

Garuda Indonesia has also signed a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, which will enable passengers to connect further from Jakarta or Amsterdam to the rest of the world through Etihad's comprehensive and fast growing global network.

Garuda Indonesia’s maiden arrival in Abu Dhabi was welcomed with the traditional water cannon salute. The airline has signed a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, which will enable passengers on this route to connect further from Jakarta or Amsterdam.

Garuda Indonesia inaugurated services on the 6,600-kilometre route from Jakarta (CGK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on 3 December, becoming the second carrier (after Hainan Airlines) to choose the Middle Eastern airport over Dubai as an intermediate stop. Garuda Indonesia now offers its four-weekly service to Amsterdam via Abu Dhabi using A330-200s. Emirsyah Satar, Garuda Indonesia’s CEO, said: “Garuda Indonesia’s stopover in Abu Dhabi is an effort to continually improve its services to customers and is part of its partnership with Etihad Airways, our code-share partner on the route.”
