Founded in 2010 by two friends with an eye for technology, Gulfware brings a range of different IT services to the Middle East. Novel Tjahyadi and Judhi Prasetyo were inspired to form the company after a visit to GITEX, with the aim of introducing technologies that are new to the region. The pair are not just looking to their own success either, but have been involved in mentoring others. Despite the growth in initiatives to encourage entrepreneurs, Tjahyadi says it is still a challenge setting up a business in the UAE. “Setting up a start-up in the country still requires a considerable amount of capital and time in dealing with red-tape administration,” he says. “Access to quality resources, information and supporting pillars, such as funds, mentors and legal advice is rare, scattered and fragmented.” The company has had early success with its SMS solution, G*Trust, a hardware-based encryption technology for finance, government and law enforcement; and Textello, an audience response system that uses Twitter and SMS, with more development underway for solutions in enterprise mobility..
