![]() With the Minecraft 1.20 “Trails & Tales” update, camels were introduced as one of the newest mobs to roam the blocky world. These majestic desert creatures bring new ways to explore and travel, especially across vast sandy biomes. However, many players wonder how to tame camels in Minecraft. Unlike horses or wolves, camels have a slightly different system — and this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.
Where to Find Camels Before you can tame a camel, you’ll need to find one. Camels spawn naturally in Desert Villages, usually walking around near villagers and other animals. Unlike horses, you won’t find them wandering the wild. So if you’re looking to locate a camel, your best bet is to head to a desert biome and search for a village there. Once you find one, you’ll usually spot a camel somewhere nearby. Do You Need to Tame a Camel? Interestingly, camels don’t need to be tamed in the traditional Minecraft sense. You don’t have to feed them or keep trying to ride them until they accept you like you do with horses. Camels are passive mobs and are rideable right away — no taming phase required. To ride a camel: Walk up to it and right-click (or press the mount button depending on your platform). You’ll mount the camel immediately. However, you won’t be able to control it until you equip a saddle. How to Equip a Saddle Once you’re riding the camel, open your inventory (while still mounted), and you’ll see the camel’s equipment slots. Drag a saddle into the saddle slot. Saddles cannot be crafted, but you can find them in dungeon chests, bastions, desert temples, or by fishing or trading with certain villagers. After the saddle is equipped, you’ll have full control of your camel and can start riding it across the desert with ease. Why Use a Camel? Camels aren’t just for show. They offer several unique advantages: Two Players: Camels are the first mob in Minecraft that can carry two players at once. Perfect for multiplayer exploration! High Step Height: Camels can step over 1.5 block gaps, making them ideal for rough terrain and desert traversal. Dash Ability: They have a special dash move that lets them leap forward to cross gaps or avoid mobs. Mob Avoidance: While riding a camel, most hostile mobs cannot reach you due to the camel’s height. Breeding Camels Want more camels? You can breed them using cactus. Just feed two adult camels cactus, and they’ll produce a baby camel. You’ll need to wait for the baby to grow, or use more cactus to speed up the process. Final Thoughts Taming a camel in Minecraft is simple — because technically, you don’t have to tame it at all! Just find one in a desert village, saddle up, and start your journey. Whether you’re exploring the dunes or riding into the sunset with a friend, camels offer a fun and unique travel experience. So grab your saddle and hit the desert trail! - gaming en. Last edited by monteindogamers; 14th April 2025 at 05:57 AM.. |
